Praia da Grama

A Private Community Around A Wavegarden Cove

Average Reviews

Description

Praia da Grama is a private real estate project planned around a Wavegarden Cove wave pool 45 minutes outside Sao Paulo, Brazil. The wave pool at the heart of the development will produce waves of various shapes and sizes that a suitable for beginners, professionals and everyone in between. If everything goes according to plan, the wave will be open sometime in 2020.

Wave Size and Shape

In each of the two the primary surfing areas on either side of the pier, intermediate and advanced riders will be offered left and right waves between 2 and 6 feet high on the face of the wave. Thanks to the flexibility of Wavegarden Cove technology, the shape will vary between open faces for turning, barrels and air sections. The size of the pool and the length of the ride is not known yet, but we see other similar Wavegarden Cove installations providing rides around 15 seconds.

One the waves pass the the primary break, they will reform into smaller, gentler waves that are ideal for beginners.

Productivity and Capacity

Its well known that Wavegarden Cove technology can create “1000 waves per hour”, so we expect this pool will be no different. Breaking that down, it turns out that in reality 450 waves will be generated in the primary surfing area on either side (900 total in the primary areas on both sides of the pier).

After being ridden in the primary area, those waves go on to reform in the beginners’ area where they get ridden again.

Praia da Grama has not disclosed their operating policy, so it not clear how many people will share the surf sessions or how long they will be. It’s a private community, so it will be interesting to see how they manage the wave pool sessions and how many waves per hour each surfer gets. The exclusive property and wave pool will only be accessible to residents and their guests, so crowds should be pretty thin after the shine wears off.

Beyond the Wave Pool

The total area of Praia da Grama will cover 9.1 hectares (22 acres). Beyond the wave pool, the property will include condominiums, restaurants, bars, spas and other sport facilities like volleyball and tennis. Its inside the existing Fazenda da Grama property which already hosts one of the 5 best golf courses in Brazil and a variety of housing options.
