The Strand Wave Pool Could Set the High Water Mark for Wave Size

The Strand Wave Pool Could Set the High Water Mark for Wave Size

The wave pool at a proposed development called “The Strand” in Gilbert, Arizona, may create waves that measure up to 12 feet on the face of the wave.

The Strand is a modern recreational water park centered on a wave pool and a cable park for wakeboarding. Not much is known about the wave pool component. The wave generation technology has yet to be announced by John McLaughlin, Strand Resorts President and CEO. However, early press releases indicate that the waves generated may reach 10-12 feet.

According to some sources, a similar wave size was described on the website for The Strand, but that information appears to have been changed or removed.

Regardeless, if The Strand does manage to produce 12′ waves, The Strand would set a new bar for the largest waves produced in a surf park.
