Coral Mountain

A private resort community

Average Reviews

Description

Coral Mountain is a resort community planned for Coachella Valley, CA. At the center of the plan is a large wave pool that will use Kelly Slater Wave Co. technology to produce waves similar to those found at the Surf Ranch in Lemoore, CA.

Meriwether Cos. and Big Sky Wave Developments are leading development of the 400-acre property. Big Sky Wave Developments was founded by Michael B. Schwab, son of brokerage pioneer Charles Schwab.

Wave Size and Shape

Kelly and his team have yet to release details about the size and shape of the waves at Coral Mountain. However, they have indicated that the wave pool will produce waves that appeal to professionals, beginners, and everyone in between. We also know that the wave pool at Coral Mountain will be filled with 18-million gallons, which is 3 million gallons larger than the Surf Ranch in Lemoore.

According to Meriwether Companies partner Noah Hahn, the wave pool will produces rides lasting about 50 seconds. Unlike Lemoore, there will be extended pools at the ends of the basin for secondary—and easier-to-ride—waves to form.

Frequency and Capacity

Its not clear how frequently the wave pool will produce waves, but it will probably be similar Lemoore which produces one swell every four minutes, roughly.

However, unlike Lemoore, the wave pool at Coral Mountain will be specifically designed to allow surfers to ride smaller waves that are produced at each end of the pool.

About 25 surfers would share waves during a session. Around 5 surfers would share the main wave and 10 surfers would share smaller waves at either end of the wave pool.

Outside the Wave Pool

The 18-million-gallon wave pool will surrounded by a 150-room hotel and up to 600 homes priced between $1 million and $5 million. Plans include a private club and multiple dining venues.

In addition to the wave pool, water sport enthusiasts will appreciate the plans for a network of ponds for stand-up paddle boarding or electric hydrofoil boards.

Outside the water, the plans include snaking skateboarding runs, bike pump tracks and trails for mountain bikes and perhaps electric motorcycles.

The private community will limit access to homeowners, hotel guests, club members and their guests.
