Wavegarden Cove Energy Consumption vs Blower Technology

Wavegarden released an incredibly informative video today that takes a strong swing at some of their competitors in the wave pool tech arms race. In the video, they describe the energy consumption advantatges that their Wavegarden Cove technology has over pneumatic wave generation systems. Claims in the video include:
Wavegarden Cove uses 10x less energy than a pneumatic system with similar output.
Producing 280 x 6′ waves in an hour would require 455 kWh from a Cove vs 4324 kWh from a pneumatic system.
A surf park that generates 1-2 million waves per year would save between $1.3 and 2 million USD based on a power cost of $0.15 per kWh.
Many of the claims are based on the fact that Wavegarden Cove technology uses horizontal movement to generate waves and there are are fewer steps between the energy source and wave generation. They also point out the Cove’s lower energy consumption when the system is in standby between sets.
