Thermal Beach Club Gets Green Light from Planning Commission
The Thermal Beach Club overcame local pushback and received unanimous approval from the Riverside County Planning Commission. That gives them the green light to proceed to the Board of Supervisors meeting on February 11, 2020. If the Board of Supervisors approves, the Thermal Beach Club will have permission to build a 240-acre private residential community centered on a giant 20-acre AWM PerfectSwell wave pool.
According to the lead developers, WhiteStar Development LLC, the water for the wave pool will come from infrastructure already built to fill and maintain a lake at Kohl Ranch. The wave pool will be filled by treated water from a reservoir fed by a canal.
Surrounding the surfing lagoon, the property will feature 326 units on 210 residential lots comprised of bungalows, villas and estates. Before and after surf sessions, residents and visitors will be able to relax at a 16,000-square foot recreational center with a spa and exercise room. Dining will be available on site from a 4,500-square foot clubhouse restaurant with bar, retail shop and kitchen.
The start date for construction and opening date have yet to be announced, but with Palm Springs Surf Club under construction and DSRT SURF preparing for construction, the race is heating up. Thermal Beach Club needs to get Board of Supervisor approval on February 11th, 2020 to proceed with development.
