PHX Surf Park is a multi-use development planned around two wave pools in Maricopa, AZ. In addition to two wave pools, the facility will offer sandy beaches, a lazy river, water slides, a bike pump track, a spa, dining, retail, a 3-star hotel and a concert venue.
Each of the two wave pools will be around 3.5 acres. The technology that will power the wave pools is unknown, but the developers are aiming for a “world-class surf experience”. Based on the drawings, the wave pools look likes other pools powered by Surf Loch technology, though it could be one of the other newer technologies (probably not Wavegarden).
On May 18th 2021, the Maricopa City Council approved the land sale agreement and a lease agreement which gives the developers a total of 70 acres to work with. Three entities purchased the land: PRLG Holdings LLC bought 18 acres for $1.18 million, Copa Surf LLC bought 21 acres for $1.38 million and E Jaicks LLC bought 20 acres for $1.30 million. The city will own and lease the remaining 12 acres. As part of the agreement, residents will be entitled to a 10% discount at the venue.
No development time line has been released.
PHX Surf Park is one of multiple wave pools planned for Arizona. Other plans include Revel Surf, Monsoon Wave Park, and Surf Town Arizona.
