Surf X is a wave pool that will use Surf Lakes technology to bring surfing to the East Midlands area of the United Kingdom.
The 5 Waves technology from Surf Lakes will allow Surf X to provide a variety of waves ranging from head high barrels for experts to whitewater rollers for beginners. If things go as planned, Surf X will produce waves similar to what we’ve seen at the Surf Lakes prototype in Queensland, Australia, shown below.
Surf X will be open year-round. The 25-acre park surrounding the wave pool will natural open spaces, beach areas, skateboarding zones, retail, event facilities, glamping accommodations and kids areas.
The Surf X team is prioritizing community integration with a plan to offer a variety of social programs and charitable activities. They’ll offer adaptive surfing, surf therapy and lessons to help people experience the waves in new and exciting ways. They also plan to provide support for low income earners, underprivileged youth, substance abusers, and other less fortunate groups in the community.
The project is expected to cost around £25Million. The team behind the project have yet to release construction or opening dates, so stay tuned for updates.
