Sunnfjord Waves

Indoor Surfing Pool in Norway

Average Reviews

Description

Sunnfjord Waves is an indoor wave pool planned for the Jølster Municipality in Norway.

The founder and director, Daniel Lira Figueiredo, says that the team has not decided on which wave pool technology they will use, but they plan to create waves for all ages, levels and board types.

Sunnyfjord Waves will also include a skate park, restaurant, bar and meeting facilities.

Keeping with the environmentally friendly ethos of Norway, the facility will be powered by renewable energy resources. Its location is near a hydroelectric plant is a unique advantage that Daniel hopes to leverage to position Sunnfjord Waves as a green-energy leader in wave pool race. The facility may also use geothermal and solar energy to become energy self-sufficient.

To fund additional planning (including initial architectural drawings, 3d illustrations, etc.), the Sunnfjord Waves team sent a funding application to Sunnfjord Development agency in May 2019. The agency granted the funding, but collecting funds requires Sunnfjord Waves to come up with half of the required funds (78800 NOK or $8800 USD) themselves. They are currently seeking funding from both private investors and companies.
