Rock Capital Group and Planworx AG are teaming up to create a wave pool surrounded by offices, retail, restaurants and a business incubator. The team has not given the wave pool a name, or determined which wave pool technology they will use, but they have narrowed it down to Wavegarden Cove or American Wave Machines PerfectSwell. As seen below, the artist renderings appear to contain a PerfectSwell wave pool.
Wave Size and Shape
The Munich wave pool will produce waves that measure up to 2m (6.5 feet) on the face of the wave. The wave will run for about 100m, which should translate to a 10-12 second ride.
Based on our research, it’s a safe bet that the wave pool will provide opportunities for surfers of all skill levels. For advanced surfers, the wave pool will offer barrel, turn and air sections.
The Facility
On the 32,000 square meters of property, the developers plan to build shops, restaurants and offices for start-ups around the wave pool. The plan also includes a sunbathing lawn, a small park and splash pool for kids.
The new wave pool and adjacent facilities will be integrated into the existing Munich Business Park near the airport north of Munich, in Hallbergmoos.
The developers expect to attract 400 surfers a day. They plan to be operate 7 days a week and stay open for 10 months out of year.
