An artificial reef reshaping opportunity has been identified at Baby Beach in Kauai. This is the first such opportunity publicly identified by the World Wave Project as they work to bring artificial surfing reefs to the masses.
Baby Beach is currently home to a fickle slap that is rarely rideable. Inside the small bay, closer to the beach, there are numerous boulders and pebbles that create a pool that is too shallow for swimming.
The World Wave Project is proposing relocation of the boulders to the slab area where they could be placed to make the wave rideable all the way from the takeoff point into the cove, where the wave would close out. Moving the boulders out of the inside would allow kids and beginners to ride the closeout up onto the sandy beach.
