Construction Starts on Sapphire Bay

Construction Starts on Sapphire Bay

Sapphire Bay, a giant $1B development that will include a wave pool for surfing, held a groundbreaking ceremony on November 19th.

The first phase of development will include the crystal lagoon, resort, conference center, and marina. The second phase includes the wave pool and surf club.

Not much is known about the Sapphire Bay wave pool or the waves it will produce. Sapphire Bay has yet to announce what wave pool technology they will use for the project. However, there is no shortage of speculation. Artist renderings resemble Surf Loch or SwellSpot pools.

The Sapphire Bay team has made it clear that the wave pool will produce waves suitable to all levels of surfing.

If everything goes as planned, Sapphire Bay and its wave pool will open to the public in 2023.
